Skiing with the girls

by rob

Hearing that a big storm was coming in, we left school and work at noon on Friday and arrived in Big Bear just as the snow was starting to fall. The next morning, we got up to over a foot of fresh snow, got our skis rented and headed for the slopes.

The girls stayed out for the whole day. BigZabba took both morning and afternoon lessons and was able to ski the bunny slope by the end of the day. LittleZabba loved skiing with dad and we rode the magic carpet and the beginner lifts all day sharing a pole to keep her balance.

By the end of the day everyone was exhausted and cold and had an awesome time. Next time we’ll be sure to get the girls snow pants instead of jeans!

Friends

by Jill

We were so blessed to spend time with friends at the cabin. They have been living in Germany for some time and we only see them every few years. Susan and I went to college together and then taught on the same 3rd grade team. We spent every day together for 3 years. Now that they live overseas we don’t get the same face time. So we were thrilled that our schedules worked out to spend the weekend together. We had such a great time hanging out, playing games, eating & watching all the kids (5 girls!!) play together. I wish our time together had been longer, but it was good for my soul.

Bringing in 2011 at the Cabin

by reppert

Originally from PA, we were feeling a bit homesick for a little East Coast winter weather this year.  A trip to Mountainaire was just what the doctor ordered.  We had a wonderful time introducing our children to snowmen/angels, sledding, thawing out with hot chocolate in front of the cozy fireplace and all the other great winter experiences that we enjoyed as kids.
What a beautiful sight!

For Faith, it was all about snow angels. We are still trying figure out where she learned about them.

Jacob, although not very mobile, enjoyed the snowfall.

A Dad's work is never done.

The Repperts plus one.

First item of business for the New Year, BREAKFAST! Grizzly Manor, less than a block away.

They served Jacob's order first. Haha, just kidding.

When they "say pancakes as big as your head", they mean it.

Magic carpet ride to our first tube run of the day.

You can take the girl out of LA...

Faith feels that Jacob should do a test run first.

We had the best time.  I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate the New Year with my family.  Thank you so much for lending us you home away from home.

Love,

Dorn, Tiff, Faith and Jacob

The Back Way

by rob

Although we usually travel up the Front Way, with the heavy weather it was washed out and completely closed. Although the desert way might have been a bit easier, we were treated to a beautiful snow-filled drive up hwy 38 on our way up to celebrate Christmas at the cabin this year. We took it slow and the AWD Pilot handled the ice like a pro.

LittleZabba in Big Bear

by Jill

Hi Everyone! This is LittleZabba. I wanted to tell you about our trip to Big Bear. We came to Big Bear to have Christmas with Grandma, Grandpa, our Aunt & Uncle & cousins. My favorite Christmas gift was the camera that Grandma & Grandpa gave me.

I took my new camera everywhere, even when we played in the snow. I had fun going sledding with my cousins.

My Aunt & Uncle gave my family a Wii for Christmas. I was so excited I screamed! We have been playing it a lot. Daddy is very good at the Wii.

We had a great Christmas in Big Bear.
